The evil eye is an ancient supernatural belief in a curse, that still remains to this day. The eye is brought about by somebody’s malevolent glare, usually when one is unaware of it, causing misfortune and bad luck. There are findings of this belief dating back to Greek classical antiquity (6th century BC), that found on Chalcidian drinking vessels, known as ‘eye-cups’, used as a type of apotropaic magic to protect one against the evil eye. To this day, owning a blue eye is used as a lucky charm, believed to rid off misfortune and bad luck.
